33rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME A
SHORT-CUT IS BORING
MT 25: 14-30
MESSAGE:
There are two approaches to handling challenges in our lives, whether they are big or small. The first consists of courageously confronting the issue until it is resolved. This path is demanding, strenuous, and can be painful at times. It requires hard work, focus, dedication, and sometimes even sweat and tears. But in the end, when the problem is conquered, we reap the rewards of our determination. This is the attitude that the master in the gospel truly commends.
The second approach involves creatively circumventing the problem, often by finding a shortcut solution. While this method may yield minimal results, it can be attractive because it demands less effort. However, this attitude did not please the master in the gospel because he saw it as a lack of growth and maturity in his servant.
Why settle for shortcuts in life? So much is wasted and lost when we take the easy way out. We miss the opportunity to stretch our imaginations and flex our muscles. We fail to recognize our true worth as capable and blessed individuals. Ultimately, when we choose the shortcut, do we truly savor the sweet taste of victory?
REFLECT:
What challenges, concerns, or problems are you currently facing in your life? Do you feel empowered to deal with them maturely? Or do you feel fearful, inadequate, and hopeless? The Lord reminds you of the courage and strength He has placed in your heart to face these challenges with perseverance and faith. With faith in God and faith in ourselves, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome one day. Believe!
